The retail apocalypse of Black Friday is almost upon us, and the DoEE is issuing a Civil Unrest Warning for all retail establishments that deal in video games. Citizens are advised to stay at least 100 yards away from any Gamestop, Best Buy, or Toys R Us, and to remain at least five yards away from any Radio Shack location for the next 72 hours.
In order to maintain the security of the gaming community, several online digital distributors are providing emergency game downloads at unusually low prices, in order to keep gamers supplied with fresh entertainment, while precluding the need to approach retail establishments.
Steampowered.com is holding a 5-day sale, with a different group of games marked down each today. As of this writing there are twelve games marked down by as much as 75%, with Fallout: New Vegas at $4.99 being the most noteworthy deal.
The DoEE is airlifting relief supplies including Red Bull and Gamer Grub to major cities.
